The German Afrika-Korps uniform was basically the same as the ones used in Europe except for the open-necked collar. Each kind of cap and pants were made from olive green colored cotton but due to the strong hot sun, the color soon faded showing various color tones. Additionally, due to the cracking and breaking of the leather shoes and belts, they were soon replaced with canvas ones. As these uniforms and equipment for use in hot and tropical zones were superior in productivity, a great effort went into trying to fit the German Army throughout Europe during the middle stages of WWII.
